I have read all of the books which are recommended below. A word of caution: many books which portray themselves as Christian contain ideas and practices which do not line up with what the Bible teaches. How do you know whether a book is truly Christian or not? My own experience was that I decided many years ago to read the whole Bible, so I have a fair understanding of what it says. In addition, I decided to accept Jesus as my Lord and Saviour, and so I received the Holy Spirit as my Comforter and Guide; it is the Holy Spirit that leads you into all truth (John 16:13). His memory is perfect, and He can prompt you when something that you read is not biblical. It is like a sort of jarring sensation with me. He also reminds you of verses in the Bible which line up with what you are reading, thus confirming that it is biblical. Sometimes I read reviews on books, which can be useful, but again, beware that sometimes reviewers get it wrong. What is useful here, is if the reviewer points out a passage from the book that is not Christian, then that can help you to decide whether or not you want to invest the time and money in it.
