Years ago I didn’t understand what worship was. Let’s start this section by stating what worship is not: Jesus said “This people honours me with their lips, but their heart is far from me; in vain do they worship me.”(Matthew 15:8).
All true worship is to do with the posture of your heart, it is a valuing or a treasuring of God above all things. Giving God honour, adoration and praise are sincere elements of worship. I like the term “delighting in God”. A physical posture of bowing is also appropriate, as you are entering into the presence of the King.(1 Timothy 6:15)
Jesus gives us another insight into worship:
“when he (Jesus) said, “The hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth.” (John 4:23)
God, who is Spirit, communicates with us through our spirit. Jesus declared “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”(John 14:6). Since God is the Truth and so only tells the truth, He expects us to do the same. It is through the finished work of Jesus dying on the cross that we are now able to have a relationship with God, and so become children of God. (John 19:28).

Praise should also form part of that worship:
“Through him (Jesus) then, let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge his name (character).”(Hebrews 13:15).
I have always loved music from childhood. The tunes were often great, but I really focussed on the lyrics. Since discovering Christian music I have found that the tunes are also wonderful, but now I have lyrics that really mean something to me. I find this music very uplifting and it helps me to enter into the presence of God. Christian music helps me to have a different perspective on issues, it informs me of how much God loves me and what He has done for me. I particularly like to listen to UCB2 (United Christian Broadcasting).
Here are some Scriptures which link together worship and healing:
“Worship the Lord your God, and his blessing will be on your food and water. I will take away sickness from among you, and none will miscarry or be barren in your land. I will give you a full life span.(Exodus 23:25)
"Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved; for you are my praise."(Jeremiah 17:14)
Living this life may not be easy, but does bring incredible rewards, both here on earth and in heaven. Here are some of those rewards:
“Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits—who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”(Psalms 103:2)

Scientific findings of the ability of worship to heal:
Worship causes 2 changes in the brain:
“An increase in the volume of the cingulate cortex or gyrus results in an increase in not only the capability, but also implementation of empathetic thinking and feeling. In essence, ... you transform into a nicer, more forgiving and trustful person (Kuchan, 2007). Jesus’ direction in Matthew 5:44 to “Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you” becomes a more attainable goal if the person spends time in daily worship and prayer.”
The second effect of worship is:
Worship’s effects on the amygdala have also been well studied and demonstrates a wide range of effects as a result of the ... down-regulation to the fight or flight mechanism (Boelens et al 2010). The result is a significant decrease in the deleterious effects of chronic fight or flight activation and the decrease in heartrate, blood pressure, blood glucose levels and serum markers of inflammation (Anderson & Nunnelley, 2016). This hypoactivation also has measurable psychic effects, measurable decreases in depression, anxiety, chronic pain and even posttraumatic stress have been identified and can be traced back to one daily action, worship (Simão et al 2016). These finding have been so robust, that incorporating prayer as part of the treatment plan for pathologies ranging from anxiety/depressive disorders, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and disorders of chronic inflammation has been encouraged (Anderson & Nunnelley, 2016). This effect is most completely captured by 1 John 4:18 “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear.”
These findings were taken from a paper entitled Neurophysiological Benefits of Worship
